STFFAR Foster Contract

Thank you for agreeing to foster one of our STFFAR pets. At this point, your foster application has been approved and you have completed your home check and reference checks. Please review each criterion as this contract must be completed with each and every one of our fosters to ensure the animal is protected as well as our rescue.

I/We understand the pet is currently named as above, and it is necessary for record-keeping, appointments, public information, etc. to refer to the pet by this name. *

To allow a representative of STFFAR to visit my premises to ensure the terms of this agreement have been kept. *

The Pet will be provided with adequate fresh food and water, clean, dry shelter when outside, and daily exercise. Cats are to be kept indoors at all times.*

To insure the collar with rabies and I.D. tags provided for the pet by STFFAR is worn at all times. *

To obey all applicable laws governing control and custody of animals. *

To foster the pet as a family companion only. *

If fostering a dog, the dog is not to ride loose in the bed of pickup trucks, convertibles or to be left only inside a vehicle. *

If fostering a dog, the Foster Family agrees to have a clean, secure fenced area or leash walk the dog. The dog is never to be allowed to roam freely outside unless in a fenced in area. Dogs may only be tethered for bathroom breaks and never left unattended while tethered. *

Foster Family agrees to bring the animal to veterinary appointments and adoption events or allow a STFFAR team member to make alternative arrangements for transportation. *

Foster family agrees to join STFFAR’s foster Facebook page “STTFAR Foster and Volunteers Unite” and use it regularly to update animal pictures and updated bios for their online profiles.*

Foster family understands that STFFAR retains legal control of the pet and is not authorized to take any legal courses or make any medical decisions on his/her behalf. *

STFFAR agrees to cover all authorized medical expenses for the pet. Vet appointments and medical expenses MUST BE PRE-AUTHORIZED and performed by a veterinary office approved by STFFAR. If the pet is taken to the vet without prior authorization from a STFFAR team member the cost will not be covered. *

Foster Family agrees to allow potential pre-screened adopters to meet the foster pet, by appointment, at their home or another reasonable location. *

Foster Family agrees to respond to STFFAR within twenty-four hours concerning the animal and/or potential adopters. *

If you choose to adopt your foster pet, you will be required to fill out an adoption application and contract to be processed according to STFFAR’s guidelines. This is necessary in order to be fair to other potential adopters. Fosters are not guaranteed to be able to adopt their foster pets. (Unless otherwise approved due to unforeseen circumstances, Fosters are not allowed to "foster fail" and adopt their first 2 foster animals with STFFAR.) *

STFFAR makes no guarantees regarding the pet’s age, breed, health, or temperament. STFFAR and its team members will make every effort possible to provide accurate information pertaining to the pet’s history, medical condition and disposition. STFFAR team members are available for consultation, assistance and advice pertaining to the pet. Team members are not veterinarians or professional dog trainers. Should a situation arise that needs professional attention STFFAR will make the decision on how to proceed in the pet’s best interests. *

Foster agrees to release STFFAR, its team members and volunteers of any and all possible claims of injury and/or damage caused by the pet to any person or property. *
